America's newest Air Weapon — the C-5A

Read this eyewitness report about the startling meaning behind
America's newest air weapon — and the world's largest air plane — the C-5A.

Marietta,Georgia

THE U.S. does it again! American ingenuity has built the world's largest airplane, the C-5A Galaxy.

Far wider than a football field, America's gleaming metal giant spans 222.7 feet, and stretches 245.9 feet from nose to tail. It's longer than twelve Cadillacs bumper to bumper. The tail juts six stories high.

Hard to believe that 728,000 pounds can fly! But fly it shall!

The C-5A "will . . . make its first flight in June, 1968," according to the Lockheed Southern Star of December 6, 1967.

Why the Galaxy?

But is there a real need for such a "super colossus"?

America's urgent military need for the Galaxy is not the only reason for its construction. You will be surprised to learn that the Galaxy plays a role in fulfilling Bible prophecy.

First, here are the military reasons.

Believe it or not, both enemies and allies are forcing the U.S. to build the C-5A.

How?

The Communists are threatening to start brush-fire wars similar to the Vietnam conflict. When such wars break out, America may need speedily to send troops halfway around the world.

The C-5A will be the fastest available means of transporting large numbers of troops and their equipment to a battle area. A fleet of C-5A's can fly a whole army of men, their support tanks, artillery, ammunition and supplies to the battlefield, and quickly.

Mere military threat from Communist enemies is reason enough to build the C-5A. But European allies of the U.S. are also making the C-5A imperative.

One-time friends of the U.S. in France, Spain, Turkey, in fact all over the world, are pressuring the U.S. into closing many overseas bases.

Foreseeing the loss of these bases, U.S. military leaders searched for a plane which could carry an army from American soil to any possible foreign field of battle.

The C-5A is their answer.

GALAXY ON THE WAY — Depicted during a night takeoff, U.S. Air Force C-5A Galaxy transport lifts from semi-improved strip in this Lockheed-Georgia Company conceptual view. Twenty-eight identically-sized wheels, 12 on each side and four at the nose, spread 728,000-pound airlifter's weight evenly to permit operation from support air fields. Main landing gear — in four six-wheel bogies — rotates 90 degrees and folds underneath for retraction. Concept shows wing leading edge slats and trailing flaps that contribute to transport's 4,000-foot runway airport performance. Built under direction of Air Force Systems Command for Military Airlift Command service, Galaxy will make first flight in June, 1968. Lockheed-Georgia has contract to build 58 C-5As, designed to deliver 220,000-pound payloads 4,575 statute miles. A cargo compartment 121 feet long, 19 feet wide and 131 feet high will accommodate trucks, tanks, tractors, and other vehicles or outsized cargo that now must use surface transport. The Department of Defense holds an option for 57 more Galaxies.

The Lockheed Southern Star says, "It will be a complete combat system, able to deploy forces into the very center of a developing conflict" (June 1, 1967, emphasis ours throughout).

With a few hundred of these flying monsters, the Pentagon could move an entire army to a far-distant conflict — in hours.

The battlefield general can then use the C-5A as a command post from which he and his staff can direct the battle going on below!

But even more startling is the role the C-5A plays in prophecy!

The C-5A and Prophecy

The huge C-5A can be used as a flying platform for launching both the Polaris and the anti-ballistic atomic missile.

But this possibility of using the C-5A as a flying launching pad for atomic weapons frightens other nations. Potential U.S. enemies feel themselves forced to search for new weapons to counter the C-5A.

As America's enemies invent new weapons, the U.S. will be forced to counter with new and more destructive weapons. America's enemies will re-counter with new weapons of their own.

This competition in military weapons is called an arms race — a race which, if not stopped, will lead to World War III.

How do we know?

History reports, "Since 650 B.C. there have been 1,656 arms races of which only sixteen have not ended in war. The rest have ended in the economic collapse of the countries concerned." (from Peace News Wire)

History repeats itself. This arms race will, if not stopped, result in war and the economic collapse of all nations concerned.

How this present, terrifying arms race will end was prophesied almost 2,000 years ago.

The greatest Newscaster of all times — Jesus Christ — said: "And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that you be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom" (Matt. 24:6-7).

Jesus Christ was not talking about small-scale wars, or the limited battles of the Roman era. He was not limiting Himself to feudal battles of the Middle Ages. He wasn't even describing the violent warfare of World War II. Jesus Christ was referring to the time just ahead of us — our day, our age.

Christ said: "For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no nor ever shall be" (Matt. 24:21).

For proof that He referred to the coming nuclear holocaust, He added: "And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved [alive]." Never before has it been possible to destroy all flesh! Atomic and hydrogen bombs now make this possible!

Jesus Christ was giving you advance warning. Today's arms race will erupt into world destruction — unless the hearts and minds of world leaders are changed!

Shocking? Yes! But this is precisely what's happening!

Western leaders are trusting for security in advanced weaponry such as the C-5A. But weapons alone will not save a nation. Science cannot save us.

Scientists and statesmen alike fear they can't stop the fast-approaching world crisis from erupting into a nuclear war which would annihilate all human life — precisely as Christ prophesied.

God's Answer to the Arms Race

Either there exists a living GOD who very soon will intervene in this world's affairs, and by supernatural power will save humanity from itself, or man will blast all human life off this earth.

The same Christ who so accurately predicted today's wars and arms race also promised God would intervene. There is a way of escape.

But you won't find this way of escape on the battlefield. You won't find it in the C-5A. You won't find it in human government.

You can find this way of escape only in the pages of your Bible.

Your Savior, Jesus Christ, said, "Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man" (Luke 21:36).

Right now you — wherever you are — face two alternatives.

You can heed Christ's warning and begin to obey your Maker who can save your life, or you can scoff — and suffer the consequences! The choice is up to you.
